Leapmotor A05s Interior Reveal: Design, Specs & Competition Analysis (2026)

Leapmotor has unveiled the A05s, a compact electric vehicle (EV) that promises to be a game-changer in the market. The company's latest offering is designed to appeal to younger buyers with its trendy and personalized interior, which is a refreshing take on the typical EV design. The A05s is the second model in Leapmotor's A series, following the A10 SUV, and is set to support the company's ambitious goal of delivering 1 million vehicles in 2026.

What makes the A05s stand out is its carefully crafted interior, which Leapmotor describes as a 'global modern fashion statement'. The 2-tone interior, featuring pink and off-white, is a bold choice that aims to create a 'personalized and trendy aesthetic'. This is a strategic move to differentiate itself from competitors and attract a younger demographic. The use of eco-friendly synthetic suede for large areas of the cabin adds a soft and refined touch, enhancing the overall premium feel.

One thing that immediately stands out is the 2-spoke steering wheel and the floating central touchscreen, which are becoming increasingly popular in modern EVs. The small instrument display positioned behind the steering wheel is a unique feature that adds to the vehicle's overall appeal. The full-width air vent paired with ambient lighting and the clean overall layout contribute to the A05s' modern and sophisticated design.

However, what many people don't realize is that the A05s is effectively a compact hatchback, which is a common classification in China but may not be well-known internationally. This classification is an interesting twist and could be a strategic move to tap into the Chinese market, where hatchback designs are popular. The vehicle's dimensions, as revealed in the regulatory filing, are 4,200 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,560 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,605 mm.

The A05s offers two motor options, 70-kW and 90-kW, paired with 39.8-kWh and 53-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs, respectively. The driving ranges are 405 kilometers and 510 kilometers, which are competitive in the compact EV segment. After its official launch, the A05s will compete directly with popular compact EVs such as the BYD Dolphin and Geely Xingyuan.

Leapmotor's management has stated that the A05 will be introduced during the summer launch window and that new models, including the A10, are expected to contribute 60% of the company's total sales in 2026. The A10, which was launched in China in March, has already recorded impressive sales of 26,804 units in June. Leapmotor's overall sales in June reached a record 93,376 units, up 94.51% from the previous year, and deliveries in the first half of the year reached 356,487 units, an increase of 60.82%.

However, Leapmotor still has a long way to go to reach its full-year delivery target of 1 million vehicles for 2026. The company has no plans to revise its annual target and will focus on efforts across products, marketing, and sales channels in the second half to get as close to the goal as possible. The refreshed B01 sedan starts at 95,800 yuan ($14,150), while the B10 SUV starts at 99,800 yuan.

In my opinion, Leapmotor's A05s is a bold and innovative move that could be a game-changer in the compact EV market. The company's focus on appealing to younger buyers with its trendy and personalized interior is a refreshing change from the typical EV design. The A05s' competitive features and pricing make it a strong contender in the market, and I am curious to see how it performs against its competitors. Leapmotor's commitment to its annual target of 1 million vehicles in 2026 is also a testament to its confidence in its products and market position.
