That's exactly what happened to the EPCOT Monorail on a chilly Tuesday evening, January 20th. Instagram user @jenna_doesdisney captured the moment, sharing a video of the monorail stranded near Disney’s Contemporary Resort, causing a ripple of disruption for passengers.
The monorail, which usually glides smoothly between EPCOT and the Transportation and Ticket Center, came to a standstill, leaving passengers stranded. @jenna_doesdisney reported, 'The train was stalled out for over an hour just past the Contemporary, causing major disruptions.'
This unexpected halt didn't go unnoticed. User @jd.unofficial, who was on the monorail at the Magic Kingdom station behind it, shared their experience: 'We were sitting there for 45 minutes and then told to get off and given buses.'
Among the stranded passengers was professional wrestler Joey Janela, who humorously took the situation in stride. He posted on X at 10:23 p.m., 'We were stuck on the Monorail for an hour tonight at Disney, luckily they hooked us up with $50 giftcards, mine was quickly spent at EPCOT on Softshell crab sliders, chili poblano tacos, and sushi doughnut in record time. Well worth it!' His light-hearted take on the situation provided a moment of levity in an otherwise frustrating experience.
Despite the inconvenience, the monorail resumed its operations on Wednesday morning, January 21st, offering a fresh start to the day's adventures. The reason for the halt remains a mystery, leaving room for speculation and discussion.
